brake light problem wiring geniuses requested
my problem is i cant find a plug on my interior harness that fits the connector on the top of the brake pedal. I swapped out my original dx wiring harness with an ex automatic one, i got everything to work except the brake lights and the back up lights. now i was wondering if the ex/automatic interior harnesses have a different brake sensor plug. because on my old harness i found a plug that fits in, and it leads to an orange thing (its a plug with a cap with prongs on it) that was taped to the harness. but when i look in the same spot on my new harness there is a blue plug with spots for four prongs instead of the yellowish/clear plug with spots for only two prongs that was on my old harness.
originally i had a 93 dx hatch manual, i dont know exactly what year the new harness is, im pretty sure its a 94-95 ex automatic
Why did you go with an auto harness with a manual car?
On the auto harness did you find a connector to fit on your clutch pedal switch? If you did thats more then likly your brake light switch connector (they share the same type of plug) Switch those and see if that helps.
For the reverse lights, because your using an auto harness with a manual car your going to need to run your 2 wires from the harness to your 2 wires on your reverse switch.
How did you start the car with the auto harness? Did you splice the wires or jump them?

yah i didn't realize it was an auto harness until i got home to install it but it was 50 bucks and in pristine condition so i couldn't refuse. we spliced the clutch pedal sensor in (cut the plug off the old harness and plugged it in and wired it to the ground), or maybe we just jumped it, im pretty sure we spliced it in. are you sure that the clutch pedal and the brake sensor plugs are the same because the brake one seems to have slots for two horizontal prongs, whereas the clutch has two smaller vertical prongs (like the service connector). is it possible that the brake switches are different from auto to manual, or from ex to dx?
No the harness arent different in DX and EX. But they are for auto and manual. Im pretty sure (atleast 95%) that the clutch and brake switches are interchangable. It doesnt hurt to try.
i checked the plugs are not the same, but im going to brakes and suspension class tonight and i have the plug from my old harness so im gonna try and fix it, if i still need help ill be back

the brake switch should have a white/green and green/white wires running to it.
Everything should be the same.... unless it has cruise.
the brake switch is a two pin plug if it doesn't have cruise and a 4 pin if it has cruise.
wire colors are the same, splice in your original plug and everything should be fine.
