Is it really that bad??
Whats up fellas, i just want to hear some voices on the h22 into civics. A lot of people say that its a bad swap and its bad for your chasis and axles and blah blah. And the other half says oh its great cheap and tons of tourqe. I mean i have seen h22's in civics and they seem fine, my boy has had one for almost 2 years and its fine. So whats really the issue? Give me some opinions.

you said it basically. The H22s were not as reliable from what I have heard, they are heavier, although not significantly, the trannys were a weak point I believe, and they require some modification to your chassis to fit in the car.
On the other hand, they are cheap, powerful, and have great torque. Many people say they are good for going fast in a straight line, although there is a person on here that autocrosses and does HPDE with an H22 civic.
Do some more searching and reading on here, there is a great write up I believe about this exact same question, it is stickied on the top of the forum so you dont even have to search. One FAQ sticky, and a motor swap sticky. Start reading, and get ready to hear the word "SEARCH" alot

not good, thin sleeves from the bigger bore. Save yourself the trouble and go with a b18, and then turbo. Much easier swap for the beginner, and the sleeves are alot stronger for turbo.
