Simple answer. Generic instructions. Or the instructions were written by the accountant. Who knows. The important part is that you don't need to drain the radiator fluid.
BTW, you should not have created a new thread for this. Other people won't have a clue to what you're talking about anyway. Next time, post this in the original thread.

I don't believe you ever need to change the coolant fluid whether you put on the Short Ram Air Intake or Cold Air Intake System.
It is not necessary to change the coolant, no point of doing so. Installing the Intake does not affect your radiator, no need to spend $$$$ and times to drain out the fluid.

Okay... let's think about why they might say something like that.
On many cars, there's a small coolant line running to the throttle body. Know where that line runs? Right next to the breather hose that runs to the intake. There are some people out there might disconnect that hose for some silly reason. If they did that, they would have some radiator fluid spilling out into the engine bay and floor. But if you drain your radiator first, there wouldn't be any fluid to leak out...
Is it necessary? No. Does anyone that need to do that? No. Does it need to be in the instructions? No. But then again, who really needs instructions to install an intake?

I don't know my K&N instructions didn't say to drain the coolant. Atleast I'm pretty sure they didn't and I had no problem installing it without draining the coolant. I had the full CAI but only installed it as a short ram.
