Default short shifter question

i have noticed on many diff cars with short shifters, some gears (especially 2nd) seem harder to go into gear. is there a way to help smoothen the shifting like replaceing the bushing? thanks for any help

A good quality shifter is the best option. I have no shifting difficulties with my Skunk2 dual bend.

I had problems with getting into 2nd long ago,
then eventually had to change my clutch out, previous owner ragged on it a bit.

ss and stock, now, I've had no trouble getting into 2nd.

I have a skunk 2 single bend in mine and aftr installing it I did have a hard time getting it into second. Adjusting the bolt that connects the shift rod to the shifter will determine how hard it it is to shift into gear.

Looser=easier to shift

Tighter= hard to shift

I just went back under the car and kept loosening the bolt until it was smooth as butter.

Just dont make it so loose that the nut can shake free of the bolt.
