Default Tanabe Exhaust Question

Wondering if this muffler i have is still good, friend gave it to me- dunno if i should try it. I heard the inside is supposed to have all these resonators inside it, and shouldn't be seethru- or was i miss informed. Heres a pic

the rest is in pretty ruff condition, but it was free- and it might be better than our 3" flowmaster the car still has on it since we bought it. thanx and ...**puts flame suit on** im ready.

Looks loud

It should work, just make sure it does'nt rattle first. push it on a subwoofer box.

now that i think about it, if you shake it around while your holding it, it sounds like something is jiggling around, i look inside and theres nothing moving around...kinda lost as to what it could be. Gonna look at it better to see what it could be, came off a friends crx and it didn't rattle or anything...hm. thanx for the help its only like 10-15 bux to weld it on at some local shop probably do it once we get it cleaned up a bit, any recomendations as to what would get it to shine nice?

Looks like a straight pipe with a 4" tip rather than a muffler...

Are you positive that it is a Tanabe muffler? Does it have any laser etching on the side of the tip? If not then it is a Tanabe knock off .

sorry didn't post up another picture cuz i was just asking about the inside of the muffler, heres what the outside says.

it has a serial number and everything...its a lil dirty but im looking for some kind of chemical that can polish it up, any recomendations? and if it is a fake or knockoff its not like we paid hundreds or even 10 bux for it, it was free so we wanna give it a try.

the cops around here dont really care bout how loud the xhaust is, if your speeding-racing-acting stupid thats when they get you. Theres oldschool cars runnin around with open headers, imports that their exhaust can probably compete in a soundoff for a stereo competition hah. Anyways can anyone chime in to see if this is the real deal or if its a fraud. Thanx

Ok that is a real tanabe. I would give it a try. Its is going to be loud but if thats not an issue then go for it. Tanabe's sound great. I have a Hyper Medaliion on my 00 si and i could not ask for better sound or performance from a exhaust!

this guys done all my xhaust work on my truck- ive been through like 6 setups on it haha. So to just replace our muffler with a few inches of pipes and bends its around 15 bux. What do you guys think about resonators for this application? I searched and some people are runnin 2 resonators. 1 22" and another 14" and searching cleared my head about them hurting performance and what not. Would one do it? We dont wanna sound like all these little ricers out there that sound like weedwhackers- it seems inevitable but we like them nice and mellow sounding- thanx

The resonators dont hurt performance at all..And they dont queit the exhaust,,they just make it sound deeper..If you want good sounding exhaust keep the cat converter(maybe get a high flow),,then get one large resonator or 2 small ones(one by the cat,,one by the muffler) and it will sound deep and bassy,,gonna be loud though,,but not like a tin can..Also dont get to big of piping ,,2.25" seems to be perfect for all motor applications..

On my old lsvtec crx I used 2 of these as resonators and some random straight muffler and it sounded ok..

Are the Super Medalion full cat-backs loud and low? or would you have to put another resonator on there to make it low.....i want a very low tone and i am looking at the super madalion.....

after we put our exhaust on we'll let u know- me and my fiancee are picky as hell as far as import xhaust tones go hah. I knew resonators either somewhat muffled or deepened the tone, thats all we want. As long as u dont think we're a weedwhacker comin down the street were happy haha. I think the cat is gutted from the previous owner. Question btw. I dont know if its cuz i dont have a cat but since we've bought the car every once and a while after a drive we notice lil black specs on our rear bumper oil right? anyways what causes this? Im lookin into orderin a high flow cat for sure with a 22" resonator. Id also like a silencer but dont know if one comes with the super medallion cuz my friend didn't buy it- came on his car.
