Default 1990 LS block need tips

right now i have an ls block that automatic completely stock. in a few days im going to change it to manuel and need some help. since i need to fix a head gasket leak what should i upgrade while the head out? i was thinking about buying some after market value springs. suggestion on cams too please. nothing special but easy on the pocket.

get a new headgasket, which i think youve got covered..

you could take the head to a machine shop and have it cleaned or whatever they do...
new arp head bolts are cheap insurance, but not needed on a stock motor

do a little search about the cams and valvetrain...they usually dont work well alone..
you could up your compression w/ new pistons
or
ditch the ls head and find a b16 head..im sure a stock ls/vtec is a little faster than your regular ls..just dont rev to 8k on your stock ls rod bolts...

im not going too crazy with the motor. what kind of cams and value train u suggest?

crower 403 cams are good, and crower valvetrain.
