1987 Accord leaking coolant
I own a
1987 accord carburated, and I recently found out it was leaking coolant. Even though I replaced the radiator at 200,000 miles. So my dad takes it to mechanic to check out where the leak was, sadly the mechanic fails to find it.
then I come across this post on the ITR section
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1581336
and it reminded me of this morning, when I started up the car I saw a clear white smoke comming out of my exhaust. (Looked kinda like when I sprayed Seafoam) So Im guessing that I have coolant in the oil. My question is how is coolant getting into my oil?

If it doesn't turn out to be the water pump*
It's leaking past the one thing you don't want to hear
Cylinder Head Gasket
or the worst of horrors
Cracked Cylinder Head.
What your technician needs to do is whats called a protracted Coolant System Pressure Test. In effect, the system is subjected to 18psi for over 15-20 minutes.
If it drops, you've got a leak.
In many cases, the water pump leaks when the car is cold and sitting for a while. It's leaking can most times be confirmed by a tell-tale green trail along the bottom of the pumps housing.
I assume the tech checked that as well, right?

If you notice the some only in the morning at first start up,, some of that is normal especially if you live in a cold winter climate but just to make sure ,, i would have the tech to do a cylinder leak test to confirm wether you got internal issues as well as a cooling system pressure test like P reccomended ..
I remember telling my dad two days ago that my Front driver side and passegner side carpet it soaked with oil. But it turned out to be coolant. So Im guessing theres a leak leading to my interior?

Ok,so it's all attached and right next door; so sue me
Anyway - that could explain why some of it's getting over on the driver's side as well.
This all begs the question; how long did this 'tech"
"takes it to mechanic to check out where the leak was, sadly the mechanic fails to find it. "
look for this problem, and did he bother to ask questions?

When I have seen it on the interior like that it has been the heater core.
If you have coolant in your oil you most likely have a blow headgasket. If you drain your oil does it look milky?

Ok good news the mechanic managed to fix it, but now I don't have a heater
for a extra $500. He siad, he could make the heater work.

Sounds like a case for the LAPD. Another quote crime perpetrated by a local repair shop. $500.00??
I'd suggest you call around an get another estimate; maybe like in Long Beach or say Milwaukee ??

Probably all he did was bypass the heater core by rerouting the 2 hoses that go into it,, if so ,,yeah no heat inside the car,,
Did you ask him what he was going to do for $ 500 ?? Actually if and only if , he has to replace the HEATER CORE $ 500 for parts and labor is not expensive at all, remember the entire dash has to be removed to replace the core..
Find out exactly what the $ 500 covers ??
