Drive shaft problem, how to solve?
I have a JDM ITR and during race day on Saturday my left side drive shaft pulled the three bearings towards the enterance of the cup during a burnout. I didn't notice until I was half way down the track when my engine started shaking. The gearstick also was shaking and a rattling noise was coming from the left side of the car. When the mechanic checked it the following day he shaked the shaft and it moved as if nothing was holding it in place. He took down necessary assemblies to get to the cup and the shaft slipped out quite easily. We put it back together and pushed the three bearings back on their shafts and assembled everything back up, when I went for a drive it was working perfectly. Later in the day while driving casually the rattling sound came back, but louder than before and this time the engine was not shaking. The mechanic says he believes it slipped half way out this time and that to rectify the problem I need a Lower strut tie bar to hold the chasis in place. My questions are, what do you think the real problem is why it slipped out again, and is the suggestion my mechanic made the right one to remedy this problem?
