Speed sensor problem with auto to manual swap
Hello! I am new here and I did a quick search and couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I recently did an automatic to manual swap and the car now runs fine.
However, my speedo doesn't read any speed.
I looked in the shop manual and the way it's written the automatic and manual speed sensor have the same wireing in the same plug.
I do have the same plug, however there are only 2 wires instead of 3 like in the shop manual. And the 2 wires that are connected there aren't even the same color has the one shown in the shop manual.
Anyone has ever seen this?
Thanks!

first of all if it is a honda it should be three wires if i am correct. u might of got one of the automatic wires mixed up with the speed sensor wires.
It's on a 1995 Integra.
There's actually 2 plug that would connect into the speed sensor but both have only 2 wires.
And the wires on the other plugs are to short to connect into the current speed sensor location...

its your speed sensor, what year is the tranny from? its a 96+ probably, i did a auto to manual, and mine had a 3 wires. you need a new VSS
Yes, the tranny is from a 1998 GSR.
However, the shop manual I used is from a 1994 Integra and shows a 3 wire speed sensor.
I swapped speed sensors with one from my friend's 95 B18B1 tranny and I still had no speed.
Also, I connected my automatic speed sensor plastic casing (the part that connects to the plug) to my manual speed sensor and I still have nothing.
I was told the GSR speed sensor used a larger gear for speed sensor, however I compared both with a brand new SIR gear that I bought and they have the same diameter.

ok, That's pretty strange.
Best way would be to find another automatic integra to be able to compare the speed sensor plug with mine...

did you unplug your cluster for anything? also check if the sensor is all the way in, once i have it sticking out a little bit, it might be something else.
Thanks for your response.
Yes, I did check to see if it was connected and no, I havn't touched the cluster.
I really think this is an electrical problem since I only hjve 2 wires going to the plug instead of 3 like the shop manual says...

you have to replace those wires, ive looked into it, even going from an auto to manual in the same year for me anyway you would need to replace those wires
there has to be a simple way of doing it, i didn't worry about that,
the problem is either electrical, or
you have the wrong vss on.
