Sylvania Silverstars in 7th gen Accord...are they worth it??????????
I just bought my 03 EX Coupe yesterday and the headlights are way better than my 98 Grand Prix that had silverstars in it. I was wondering if anyone had replaced the high and low bulbs with these and saw an improvement on there Accord. They seem to be pretty cheap on eBay (I think I payed upward of $40 a pair in the store but that was when they first came out). Thanks!
For the money, yes. Probably the brightest Quartz Halogen bulb available.
In all fairness, you were probably dealing with pitted and sandblasted capsule lens on your previous '98 Pontiac. You should be pleasantly surprised with the new headlights.

Actually I had new capsule covers on my GP but those years of GP's all had pathetic headlights. The silverstars did help some but I just wanted to know if they helped Accords out too.
Silverstars are nice and bright, but you should think about two problems:
1.They're bright because they are hot. A lot of people find the lifespan of Silverstars to be too short.
2.I think you'd better have a good look at your manual before you go thinking that changing light bulbs on a 7 Gen is going to be very easy.

they are definately brigher than stock lights in dry weather
but honestly...that blueish tint that have, makes them **** in the rain
so i got silverstar low beams and left my high beams stock, that way in the rain/wet weather i can throw my brights on and see much better.

The silverstar lights are great. I have my stock lights back in now because the silverstars blew (within 24 hours of one another), but while they lasted they were excellent. They were actually so bright that many people would flash their brights at me, and then I'd flash them back and they'd be like "oh wtf", etc. Be prepared for them to burn out after a few months.
Installation is actually really simple, reach back, grab the light, rotate it, pop the harness onto the new one, stick it back in, rotate back. The hardest one is the one on the right (if you're looking at the front of the car), and all you have to do is take off the battery harness, have somebody pull it to the left, and then do the same thing you did on the left.
Good luck!

OK. Tell me how you reach the light on a 2003+ Accord w/out removing the fender liner.

Honestly, I can't speak of the Silverstar's life expectancy. But I will tell you this (and you can draw your own conclusions):
Every car I list in my sig is currently registered and operated on the streets of the State of Rhode Island. All but the '88 have Silverstars. Each Accord has been SilverStar equipped for the last three years, the Civic for one; and in that time, only one has required replacing.
Again, draw your own conclusions.

I saw that diagram in my wife's new accord manual and thought :WTF?! What kind of design team worked on this thing. I won't be replacing her headlamp bulbs "just because" for a longtime.

As a matter of fact, if you're just talking about reaching the bulb, just pop the hood, no need with the fender liner.
If you look where the lights are, the electrical harness hooks up to them on a plastic clamp. Unhook the clamp, twist the bulb 90 degrees and viola! 04 LX sedan 4cyl. Idk if its different with any other models/trims (idk how it could be), but that it is the way it is in my car.

Probably the same team that designed the old AMC Pacer. da...m distributor ended up under the Dash Board. It would have been easier to have removed the radio and cut a hole in the firewall to access the distributor, than try to do it as they suggested.
I think they went on to become accountants at GM.....

In an 03+ accord it's easiest to remove the battery then you can get to the headlight on the drivers side, the pass side is easier.
My Civic had Silverstars for the past 2 years and they are going great. The CR-V's are getting them in another week or so. Just be sure your wires are crap and dirt free or they can heat up too much and melt.

True, but this guy needs to remember, when he takes the battery out, he better have the code for the radio or it's going to be a quiet ride......

I think the stock bulbs are plenty bright enough. When one burns out, then I would think about switching to the silverstars. Just a suggestion.
