Default '94 Civic DX Coupe problem ... won't start!!

While driving to work, I down shifted from 4th to 3rd cause of changing speed limits, and my car made a loud "pop" sound. At the same time of the sound the RPMS just straight dropped to 0, as if the car had stalled. I pulled over, all electrical was on (radio and lights) but car wasn't. So I tryied starting it and it just keeps on clicking, not starting at all.

I don't think it's the starter because it wouldn't have just died like that, right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ohhh ... engine is stock too

no check engine light ... not backfire ... more like a pop that something snapped internally.

could a camshaft snap without giving warning?

do a compression and leak down. maybe you snapped a timing belt. turn the crank and see if the cam turns too
