b18c5 in an EK????? BAR questions
The search function is broken right now... I looked through a bunch of pages... I was wondering specifically about a jdm 98 type R into my 98 hatch... The mechanics of the swap I understand.. There were some posts awhile back about the JDM type r into an EK that was Bar certified... Was there any OBD issues with the JDM motor? What year did they go to OBDIIB in the ITR's? My hatch is OBDIIA so I'd like to stay within the same OBD.. I'm unsure of the JDM motors though... If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated..
If you could point me to any of the posts where someone succesfully BAR'd a jdm itr into an EK would be the most help....

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you asked for it. You are NOT going to like this.
here you go:
legalizing your jdm itr motor

1. Was there any OBD issues with the JDM motor? YES
You may be able to get away WITHOUTchanging the oil pump and adding the CKF if you can conceal the wiring. you can steal the ckf signals from the dizzy. here:

The vtec pressure switch can be bypassed as well (by wiring the the vtc to the vps, to steal the signal), but I think you would get caught without the pressure switch.
I am pretty sure you have the correct emissions stuff the USDM ITR ECU needs.
2.What year did they go to OBDIIB in the ITR's? 2000
BUT you need a 97-98 USDM ITR ECU (no immobilizer issues or obd2a to obd2b harness). IF you go 00-01 you need a whole immobilizer system and obd2a to obd2b harness (bad idea).
Post any other questions you have and I will see if I can help you

I think the 98spec jdm Itr's have the CKF, and the Vtec pressure switch.... The 98 ITR ecu's do not have an immobilizer? Is that correct? All I have to do is find a 98 ITR ecu then

1. 98spec jdm itrs DO NOT have CKF OR VTEC PRESSURE SWITCH
2. 97-98 USDM ITR ECUs are OBD2a AND Don't have an immobilizer. This is what you want.
