I just got a 95 honda civic cx for 3 grand and ther motor blew beforee I even got it home. so now Im kinda agravated and now I need a motor asap. so I was thinking about going with a d15b for right now I am kinda on a budget and all and I did just pick up a vafc for 150 bucks brand new so if I did buy the motor would that help it out alot or what would it even be worth putting a compitition stage 2 clutch in it? I know this motor is slow but someone has to have this motor or has gone through this I just want to know is it really slow is it quick in a hatch I just want a d series motor right now that is a decent mid power motor tell me what you guys think???

 

yeah i hydrolocked my 1st d15b7...bought 2nd one from junkyard ,my luck it burns oil and all that now, so im gettin a jdm d15b from hmotors.com for only bout 500$ shipped for this summer to replace 2nd one, its the quickest cheapest way to replace your engine, as for power.. ive seen d series engines over 240hp turbo'd.. but id recommend a dseries out of all the rest since your needing one soon

 

if your on a tight budget than i would say D-series would be fine on the other hand trying to get it up to par with a B-series would cost of lot of money and not worth it to me......overall i would recommend a B-series......just my opinion .

 

same here i wanted a obd1 b16 swap but to me 2400 for a 4cyl just aint in my wallet so i bought a d15b to replace my d15b7 i like it alot plus i went boosted after a year of having it .. been bossted for a month now and loving it . cant wait to tune it to 200whp

 

the JDM D15b is just like having a D16z6. Its fun, more fun that a slow CX motor (which I have for sale REAL cheap if you need).

As far as getting up to par with B series you could buy the JDM D15b and add a HMT kit for less than you could get a stock B and it could be quicker.

 

thanks guys I really thank you for alll the help I am ordering my motor this morning matter of fact so I can get back on the road I also bought this vtec vafc for 150 as well I guess I will usee that as well to help me out with vtec and all and I might go ahead and put a clutch in it as well. so if I did buy a hmt kit how much do you tihnk it would be I heard alot about the ssac mantifolds they dont break on d series but on b series watch out I know they break after 2 weeks the min. but thanks guys.

 

dont get an ssac manifold. Go to HMT.com, there are alot of good people on there making good manifolds. I pieced together my kit for about 1k.
