lowered and rocking a lip owners: question for you guys.
hey guys
i recently looked into getting a front lip... but yesterday i lowered my car and it seems to be out of the question.
im only running s-techs, but i already scrape / rub when i leave my driveway.
how on earth do you guys drive like that? my lip would rip off in no time.
is there some secret to driving a lowered car

Nah man you'll be good on the S-Techs. It's only a problem if you're retardedly low and can't get over roadkill without rashing your exhaust.

this is my old car
sprint race drop springs
stock hx wheels
real cf spoon lip..(lip for sale)

maybe its just the roads in GA that suck. like i said before, i scrape getting out of my driveway.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You need to go at an angle (just the right angle). Unless its a super steep driveway then you just gotta scrape your lip everytime you enter and leave your driveway. I only have a stock SI lip though so no challenge there.

Mine was pretty low, in time you learn how to drive w/o scraping the lip. But sense your on s-techs you should'nt scrap that bad, you just have to hit your driveway at a angle and go slow over speed bumps. In time you remember where your lip scraps and learn how to avoid it. I would'nt get a lip that comes down as low as the one above, you dont want anything that hangs lower than a si lip.

here's what i would do if you're really worried:
buy some cheap replica lip to use until you get a "feel" for where you will scrape. if you scrape 10 times a day.. maybe getting a nice painted or cf lip isn't for you. but if you learn to avoid all of the trouble spots, you'll know you can trust yourself with a nice lip.
at the worst, you scrape up a piece of abs plastic and waste $50 instead of $200+

I keep my lip loosely bolted on, enough where it won't fly off, but when it scrapes, it just slides up on the bumper. I've had the same CF lip on two lowered cars for almost 2 years now, and it is just a little scraped on the bottom, but nothing even noticeable. The first car was dumped on coilovers, and my new one is lowered a little over 2'' all the way around, just drive slow and angle.

hey mang, i have personally gone to Ga/Fl and Cali, and your roads ARE like heaven/race track status compared to our streets here in the north east..MA....especially the city i live in right now(second hilliest city in the U.S. second to san fransico). Pot whole and huge bumps on every corner and straight. but i get around...even when it snows here....so over time, you'll get use to it. My car is pretty dump. Can't go any lower now because i have already lose one lip.

Side Shot:

how low is your car? how many inches? and maybe your rubbing because of your tire size.

A lot of guys go for the Mugen lip. I had a Mugen style lip before also, but then I lent my car to someone and they broke it over a curb. Since then I've switched to a Type-R lip which is considerably shorter. To say the least, the lip has been treating me well.

YES there is a secret to driving lowered. you're on S techs which aint ****. im lowered 2-3x more than you. but anyways, when you go up a curb you gotta angle your car. and instead of going straight over bumps you go diagonally. get it?
i'm really on airbag suspension so i can raise and lower on demand =P. jk. when i used to be dumped a pack of cigareets couldn't fit under my car and i used to scrape on aggesive dips. but just careful and know your environement =P
