Yep. I do the Meguiars 3-Step. I know people will chime in with some obscure "Earl's MooseJizz Miracle Wax" but the run of the mill Meguiars has always done me well. I'm taking a day off this coming Friday to do my cars. All day car cleaning marathon FTW!

It wont harm your clear coat. However be sure to use plenty of Quick Detailer as a lubricant before you start using the clay.
I cant stress that enough, use Quick Detailer or the equivalant. Also, be sure to follow up with a good wax immediately after claying. Claying removes contaminants as well as your wax, leaving your paint unprotected.
Other than that, you'll be okay

You can barely tell the difference.
It's not really a super visual thing.
__________
Claybaring just uses detailing spray and a physical clump of clay to rub over the paint and pick up ****.
It picks up little bits of microscopic crap and even some small visual stuff. It can clean up dings, some scratches etc. It also fills in tiny lumps from general road use.
My car gets lots of textured bumps on roof from weather and crap, claybaring basically makes it smooth again.
I do it like once a month when it's nice out. $20 for a kit that lasts like 4 months is definitely worth it. You have to wax afterwards, so just mix and match. I use Mothers kits, and then Meguiars Next-Tech whatever wax afterwards, each time. And it's kept my Milano Red (original 1994 paint, surprisingly not Milano Pink yet) BLINGIN.
________
Right after the initial clean of the season when snow was gone. Claybared EVERYTHING and waxed as well.
