Default replacing valve stem seals

i'm replacing the valve stem seals in a b16a and i am wondering do you have to take off the head or can it be done with the head on the car ? thanks for any input

I would suggest taking the head off. It will make life easier.

really i've heard that you've had to take the head off than i've heard that its easy if you leave it on so i dont know

Import builders sell a nice tool for removing the springs with the head on for I think $50. I have done it myself and it not that bgig a deal. Dan

snap-on has a tool for leaving the head on, too.. but i prefer to just yank the head.

youll want to fill the cylinders with air, at TDC I think. to hold the valves in place...

i suggest taking the head off...

good man, at a shop or a place with air then it is easier to remove springs and seals.

sadly i dont have air so we'll see how it goes, wish me luck its my first time breaking apart one of these so hopfully i dont screw anything up

ive got the head gasket and intake manifold gaskets if you want them... ill do $65 shipped for both...

it was fine i had a problem with getting the valve springs to compress so i just took it to a shop and paid like 30 bucks for them to do it which is how much the honda oem valve spring tool was gonna cost so it all worked out thanks for the help guys !
