fender rolling not quite working...
hey guys
im resorting to the bat method to roll my fenders, but i have encountered a problem.
on the rear, when i set the bat down, and start rolling, it just compresses on my tire and it doesnt do much rolling
i cannot afford a fender rolling tool or to take it to a shop.
is there anything else i can do?
thanks

... i would still like a semi round fender, not one with nipples all over it.

Also in the rear if your camber is set to 0 degree and your drop kinda low it will rub. Just go ahead and hammer it, but please be gentle.

i thought the same too, but i guess the washer trick brought my camber back close to 0.
i know its the rears because my tires are sticky from the rubbing + there is rubber under the fender well.
i really dont understand how this is happening since there is still a 1-2 finger gap between the tire and the fender itself.

for you guys with the hammerin skills, did you cut slits into the fender every few inches so it could be hammered up? or did you just take it to town in 1 piece?

does grinding not cause rust because of the exposed metal?

This is what I did. Took a rag, and a pair of vice grips. Put the rag over the lip and started to pry up. With that and my camber at -1.7 no rubbing. If you crack your paint, no big deal. Like said above, take some primer, and some black paint. Tape off off a big area around the fender so no overspray. Paint the lip, with primer, the black. I would even clear coat it.

not exactly, primer doesnt stop rust to well, if you need to worry about it go down to kragen, autozone or whatever you have and get some touch up paint. use that to fix the bare metal. primer doesnt seal steel.

humm wow, i never even thought of that... im pretty sure im running 30 psi all around. i dont want to overinflate though.

yeah, was about to mention that weight goes on tha side you're turnin' away from.

this is no good because if your quarter panels ever get it, damage is goin' to be even worse as tha two pieces of metal panels split apart from each other. and if you ever have to get a quarter panel replaced, you can't do it because you don't have that edge of tha inner piece of tha panel to weld tha outer quarter panel onto.
i was so f'd on my first hatch when i had to go through all that.
if you know you're always goin' to stick to your wheel/tire specs, then go ahead and roll your lip. i would just change your setup.
i've had 16"x7" with 195/40s in tha rear. no rubbin, but also never cambered. never had bad wear either.
i've had 16"x7" with 205/45s in tha rear. cambered with them washers, and rubbed. but i raised tha rear up a tiny bit and now it's fine.
i guess i'm just not all for rollin' tha quarter panel since you can't just replace it like like you can a fender.

thanks for the info... i already went ahead and rolled it.
however, if i give rides to other people and hit a dip in a road or anything along those lines, i will scrape. i guess theres nothing much i can do.
however, if im driving alone, i have no issues at all.

How old are your shocks? Worn (blown shocks) would cause the car to "bounce" rather than absorb bumps as new shocks do. This could also be contributing to more body roll when the car is turned exacerbating your rubbing problems.
try prying the lip out a little bit first then rolling. find a good angle and keep at it.

No, you need a smaller wheel/tire combination and enough money to do this stuff right instead of halfassing it.

its just the offset on my wheels, the rubbing used to be really bad when i had no fender rolling, but now its ok with just me in the car.

im open for donations
theres no way i can afford to go out and buy a new set of wheels and tires right now. and i cant use the stock wheels, cause my car never came with the stockies.
