Default ~*Mis-firing*~: after belt install/cam gear install Gurus check in!

EDIT MY CAMS ARE NOW ALIGNED PERFECTLY! Im going to start the car in a few..

UPDATE YAY ITS FIXED! Just loosened the tensioner one more time and readjusted the exhaust cam slipped the belt back on and now it runs perfectly!

Okay so I was jus suppossed to do a simple cam gear change BUT the stupid lil cam gear key fell all the way down to where the crank lives. So no other choice but to take off the crank and belt to get to it. After doing this and re-installing everything now my cams dont align.

I know they should look like this:

But instead they came out like this after tightening the tensioner

This is a picture of my crank which is at TDC

And this is my distributor which is also at the #1 piston firing position

Heres my question: Could it be that the only reason my car sounds like its misfring so bad is due to the cam gears being off by so much or couold it be something else?

If so how the 'EFF" do you keep them in place so that they dont move when you are tightening down the tensioner?

Thanks guys..

The number one piston Has to be at top dead center(all the way up) And the two cam gears have to have the lines Facing eachother like in the first picture you posted.... to make it easier on the cam it has a hole through the cam hold down cap where you can slide a a philips screw driver in through each cam to hold them in place...... hope this helps.....

Yeah i fixed it...all i did was loosen the tensioner, slipped the belt off, and then just align the cams again. After that i put the belt back on and re-tightend the tensioner and BAM..its fixed. Idles perfectly.

Im just going to leave this post up so that other people can see it if they have any questions.
