I'm about to buy a jdm d15 vtec sohc to swap into my 89 civic. I need to wire up the vtec, convert my car to MPFI, but other than the ECU I also need, it should be a straight forward swap. Am I missing anything?? No PS, no AC and I'm using an SI transmission from the same gen civic too.

Should this be a direct swap in deal?? I've searched and posted 2 times but no one will answer me.

If your new d15vtec is an obd1 instead of an obd0, then it would pay huge dividends to aquire the entire wiring harness to avoid custom wiring in many of the components that are missing in the system. The non-vtec obd0 harness and the obd1 vtec harness are quite different, as are the ECU's and distributors. But before i make an *** of myself for trying to help, what trim level is your 89 civic?

 

My car is the CX model.
