Seafoam for a dpfi motor...is that a good idea?
I want to use seafoam on my dpfi motor but im afraid that im going to expletive something up inside the motor. has anyone tried this before? if so what were the results? what were the pros and cons of it? was it worth it? I also want to try the BG 44k and see how that works. i get that stuff for free
and its a fuel additive so what should i do? btw my motor is at 132k w/ new wires, spark plugs, and fuel filter and new oil if any of that matters.

Seafoam is not added through the fuel system (it can be, but most people don't.) You just suck the fluid into the intake manifold using the engine's vacuum. Really, the only bad thing that can happen is hydrolocking the motor if you allow too much fluid in, or suck it in too fast. Common sense will keep you out of trouble there. Just follow the directions on the can. It's hard to make a mistake.
BG44k is good, and actually cleans the fuel system...unlike seafoam. I have heard that the formulation on 44k has changed in 2006, and its no longer as good as it used to be. Aparently, there is some key ingredient (PEA or something like that) that is no longer in the formula. Try to find an older can of the stuff if you can...its supposed to be better.
I've used both products, and they both work. Seafoam is more immediate and extreme, while 44k takes the gentle approach. 44k is safer just because there is nothing you can really do to F it up.....but Seafoam has been used by thousands of people with no problems.
