Default BKR7E-11?

I'll be doing a tune up for another project car i just got. Would the BKR7E-11 be a good match for the stock ITR motor? Or do you have something else you would recommend?

I am almost positive the stock ITR plug is a BRK6E.

A 7 heat range plug will make your car feel like *****.

...That is, unless you're turbo, or have 11.7:1 compression, like me.

can we start some informative dialogue on this topic? i have search & asked before but have yet to find solid info.

from what i just read on denso's website, the lower the number the hotter the plug.

I recall hearing people with turbo setups needing a cooler plug. with that logic then, do the n/a motors prefer hotter plugs?

****. i was running the bkr7e-11's in my b16 with ctr pistons....perhaps I should get the BRK6E's?

You were fine with the BRK7E's, but you could have gotten away with the 6's.

High compression N/A engines produce similar cylinder pressures and heat as boosted cars. Thus, you need a cooler plug to help dissapate that heat.

I ran some 6 heat range plugs on my engine for a good while, and could never get a good reading out of them to tell if I was detonating or not.

Then, my tuner suggested a cooler plug, such as the BRK7E plug that he uses on his turbo cars. Since my compression read 285psi, he suggested the cold plug.

Now, I can read my plugs perfectly, and they're not melting themselves down.
