can rattle noise at 3500 rpm? HELP
Well I have asked this question already but just to refresh. The problem is my car makes a rattleing noise at 3K or 3500 after it has been on for about 5 or 10 minutes. I was told that it is my "A" pipe thats causing the problem and the noise will go away if i replace my headers. I just wanted to make sure that it is my header and not my cat or exhaust. I am about to go buy a DC ceramic 4-1 but I dont want to spend 250+ on something thats not gonna solve the problem. HELP ME OUT. Thanks

so should I remove my cat and attempt to find out what is going on or replace the cat itself?

i've had my share of rattles... one time, my car made a bad tin can rattle noise from 3500-4000 rpm. I found out it was a loose bolt from my cat to b-pipe. Another time I had a rattle from the heat shield around the S shaped bend from the b pipe. Another time was from my resonator created a leak/hole in one of the welds..and another time was when my greddy sp muffler was falling apart internally. Just realized all my rattle realated problems were from my greddy sp catback system

okay i am going to remove my heat shield and see if that solves the problem. I will update later. If anyone is having similar problems and replacing the headers helped, then please reply to my post. Thanks. i really want to get rid of the noise. It's driving me nuts and it sounds so unprofessional. HAHA.

i had the same problem with my teg awhile back. removed the heatshield and still a rattle at 3500rpms. when i put on headers the noise went away. i recall one of my buddies at work telling me that there is a service bulletin for that rattle.

So can i remove this heatshield on the cat or do i have to replace the whole cat itself?
I was thinking about getting some headers. What do you guys recomend? I am leaning towards a DC 4-1 ceramic cus of my budget. There are some generic ones for like like 220 and they are stainless steel. How good are these generic brands?

A piece of wood? wtf
Anyways, beware.. this rattle is different for every Integra.
Replacing the cat could fix it..
Replacing the exhaust manifold could fix it..
Removing the heatshield could fix it..
Or in my case you can buy a brand new SS DC 4-1 header, new RS*R exhaust, SMSP highflow cat, and remove the heatshield and still have the rattle. And I am not the only this has happened to either.
Basically, you are on your own judgement.. it could be anything.

i ahve the same thing on my DA, its a heatshield for me, but my louder exaust after i ehard it ahs pretty much drowned it out, and it got replaced when i broke a motor mount hitting a pothole... bastard city
why does everyone have it past 3k+
mine ends up being between 2.1-2.5k
and i appear to be the only one to have it @ 2.1-2.5k
could mine be something else?
taking off my heatshield and melting crap under the area isnt what i'm looking for (someone mentioned something about melting brake lines in another thread if heatshield is removed?
)

mine does the same. around 2.5k+
its my header. smashed and is hitting my steering pinion.
the other issue is my resonator is blown. so makes a rattleing noise. you guys should check that out.

i'm running dc 4-2-1 header tho
i looked under my car and didnt see anything today
nothing seems to be rubbing with anything,
i'll have someone hold it @ rpm while i check on tuesday or wed
but as for now we gotta run text methods
the sound seems to be coming from directly under me, most likely sometthing around the cat...
but =\
