Small oil drips on crank-flywheel seal. Should I be worried?
This is a picture of what the plate between the crankshaft and the flywheel looks like. There is a small oil dripping, not where the rear main gasket is, but in the center of the crankshaft. Should I do something about it or is it alright? I did use some heat to loosen the flywheel-to-crank bolts, but not much.
Thanks peeps. Hoping it's nothing to worry about!

I'm with him /\ You might as well go ahead and replace the rear main while you're at it!

The rear main is the black larger circle, not the inner one...
I could be falling from the top, collecting on the center ring, and then dripping,
Clean it off real good let it sit, give it a few rotations, and if you can see from where it's leaking...
I would think if your crank was cracked you would have already seen a more catastrophic failure.
but there is a first time for everything

Well I wiped it, turned it over, waited a few hours, no leaks, I put the new flywheel on. If it does become a problem down the road the transmission was surprisingly easy to take off, so I'm not too worried about it. Thanks for the replies!

Well since u are replacing it just get a flat head screwdriver and hammer and wedge it out. It doesnt matter if u damge the old one since u are replacing it

Just be careful not to hit the aluminum housing or scratch the are on which the seal sits.
It's very hard to use a hook to remove this seal.
I usually use a hammer and and a punch, and punch down on the seal

Just to clarify, I DID change the rear main seal while it was out, I just used a flathead screwdriver and some soft taps, came out fairly easily w/o scratching a thing! woohoo!
