Default Tranny Advice

I am in need of a transmission rebuild. I could buy a stock tranny with LSD from a place like H motors. I could go to a local tranmission shop and have my 92 YS1 GSR rebuilt with my KAAZ LSD. I could purchase one of those Gear Speed ones. Or if anyone can suggest a good tranny person/shop close to MN.

My Transmission just needs to be reassembled.

Car is going to be a Street/Strip car that ranges from 300-600 hp.

Well I am going for the cheapest and best option.

If I buy a Swap from H motors I have an engine and tranny with factory lsd for $2500 shipped. (keep in mind I also now would have a back up engine)

That is the same price for a Gear Speed with and LSD, Polished casing and carbon coated synchros for 2395. plus shipping.

I am not sure what the rebuild would cost. I am still looking into a quote. There are plenty of DSM guys up here but no Honda guys that I trust to build a tranny to drag racing specs.

The only problem with a Factory LSD (non Type R) is the that ring gear is built onto the LSD...if you want a final drive change in the future you will need to get an LSD as well because the bolt pattern on that ring gear is different. You are also getting a used trans with some mileage and who knows how it was driven and how long it will last. Then you may find your self in the same boat...only with a spare motor now Its a tough decision to make
