Putting 2 catalytic converter on????

Default Putting 2 catalytic converter on????

I didnt pass smog...guy said i would need a new cat, but the one i got is new, but pretty short. But im broke, but my friend has a an extra cat. I know i will kill alot to power... but does anyone think it will help or damage the motor.

It'll be alot more restrictive, but u can always take it off once u pass.

have you changed the sparkplugs and o2 sensor? cause you might start with that before welding up another cat..

putting 2 cats will not damage the motor. but its useless to put 2. you just need one good 3-way cat from the factory or similar to factory. also you need to know what you failed at so you know if you need a new cat or not. depending on the reading. i hope that helps.

yeah, i failed pretty bad, put on a 3 way cat and replaced the 02 sensor, passed with ease

o2, sparks plugs, everything is new. I have I mildly built d16z6, with a a6 pistons, and crower stage one cams, replaced everything when built motor.

I had to go to a test only smog and failed Nox, the max allowed was about 870 i was at 1700 (dont know exact number, papers its in my car). I'm koo with the smog guy. He said that most likely cat. He said that my cat looks a bit short( stock 91 si cat). He said i should get a obd-1 cat since it is made of the motor, but i dunno if he knows what he is talking about.

if you car came with one but you have 2 and the inspector sees that, you can fail also

Like i said smog guy is a friend of a friend. He saw the z6 a knew right away it was not a stock motor. But said it was ok, as long as i passed....and no he is not going to "hook me up"
