yes you should have the abs axle installed. The non abs axle will work but your abs might not work? there is a ring on the outer part of the axle that reads if the wheel is locked up. the ring tells the abs computer when to apply full presure or when to let off a bit so the wheel doesn't lock up.

You might not have a choice in the matter.

Your shell is 97 right ? What year is your motor ?

I assume your have an H22A LSD tranny ?

What half shaft are you using ?

He is using a prelude half shaft. He is now looking into some raxles. I don't think they come with the abs rings, would it be a bad Idea to pull the ABS unit?

Honestly, raxles would be a good idea. I have an H22 powered DC2 and I tried with "Hybrid" axles (86-89 teggy outers and mid shafts with H22 inners) and although it worked, it wasn't perfect. They started binding after a while.

I got in touch with Marty at Raxles and he grinded a set for me. I haven't had an issue since. His customer service and products are excellent.

I don't see disabling ABS as a big deal. He might want to find out to be absolutely sure but it should be a non-issue.
