new v-tec controler
i just bought a v-tech controler and my check engine lite comes on and stays on when i lower the v-teh passed normal. its a 2001 integra gsr and its mostly stock. is there any way i could bypass the sensor for the v-tech becauce thats whats triggering the light to come on, or do i have to just have to buy a different control. everything is hooked up right its been verified by a tec.
vtec....not v-tech ot v-tec
Have you pullled the code it is throwing??? If not do that see if there is something else going on.
This will help https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=978933

Let me save you some flaming... it is VTEC. V-Tech is a brand of telephone.
Now, a GS-R has VTEC engagement at 4,400 rpm, which is already pretty low. I don't recommend setting VTEC engagement any lower than that. Why you would want to bypass sensors that are there to keep your car running properly is beyond me.

I believe you are making a very common mistake. On a stock GS-R VTEC engages at 4,400 rpm, it does so very quietly, and without all of the sudden violence that is common place on other VTEC motors. At 5,750 rpm the intake manifold opens up the second set of runners on the intake tract. The intake manifold switching over feels a lot like what VTEC engagement feels like on other VTEC motors.

thats not your vtec buddy...those are your secondaries.....you wouldn't hear a GSR
S vtec if your life depended on it with out mods.....just the way it is on GS-R'S
but you can tell the difference between a GS-R vtec and B16 vtec......With a GSR you would feel the power consistantly throughout the RPM'S as with the B16 you would only feel it when the crossover hits...thus you feel a sudden burst of power with the b16's making it feel stronger..but really in a gsr the pull is just as hard, if not harder. you wouldn't notice it because it's consitant through out.
