Default Exhaust piece, what is it?

I want to order part 7/8 (not sure which is for my 92 RS), but I can't from any of the sites I've seen. WTH is it and where can I get one?

that's a pipe you'd use instead of a catalytic convertor. search for "test pipe." i think OMNI makes one and i'm sure they're not the only ones.

i dunno how FL compares to CA for smog, but removing the cat would definitely not pass smog here.

I concur. I can not see those numbers on my little 17" monitor.

yeah, but his point is that although you can see the parts in the picture, they aren't available to order below.

i think this has to do with your selections on the parts page. if you pick KL5MT, then you can only order parts that are for a CA-legal car. i'm not 100% sure on this, tho, cuz i never look for parts for anything else, but it sure sounds good!

oh, and the parts he's referring to are the straight pipes just to the right of the exhaust manifolds.

It's definitely NOT a test pipe. It looks like an extension from the stock header to the cat.

For those that replaced their header, did it bolt RIGHT to the cat or was this "spacer" used still?

If it deletes it, I'll just get a new header then.

The reason I'm asking is because I bought a new cat online and it's about 4 or 5" short of the stock header. My stock exhaust was a complete pile of rusty **** so I tossed it all. I'm guessing I need this part but I can't find it online or anywhere else for that matter.

well, here's a pic of my 92 LS with DC sports header. this is why I figured that part is meant to replace your cat. it looks like it's either part 7, or part 8, or the cat. I had my header swapped at a shop while they were replacing my transmission, so I never saw what they took off.

Now, if someone could post a pic of the stock header...that would be a great comparison.

I have an aftermarket cat, so it's kind of hard to tell from the pic. (But it's looking promising.)

Browsing Ebay, I came across these 2 aftermarket headers.

In the second picture, the mounting tab is further away from the "cat connection" and looks to eliminate said piece. However, the pics shown are RARELY for the actual piece.

Any help on this would be great.

i dont have a pic or anything but i think that is just an extention of the stock header, i think some cats and some headers are longer or shorter. i think it is acts like a spacer. if someone has pics of stock header on the car i think we will figureout whats up.

Out of those two ebay headers, I think the first one is for a GSR, and the 2nd for an LS.
Because they're different lengths, that's the reason you can't mix&match gsr exhausts with ls headers and vice versa.

Eh, I just ordered a new header.

Funny thing is, I wanted this car as a daily driver and will have done IHE before it ever hits the road.

/sigh....
