Default Expanding Aluminum Piping??

I have 2.5" aluminum charge pipes and a precision intercooler with 2.75" inlet/outlets. I dont want to spend $50 on two reducer couplings so I was wondering if I can have the charge pipes expanded or will be "tear" because the aluminum piping is too thin?

I would assume that the aluminum would rip instead of expanding. By the time you get 2 2.75 couplers and pay someone to expand it, it should be around $50. I would just save the headaches and do it the right way.

depending on what type of aluminum it is, it could possibly crack as u try to expand it. I think heating it up will aviod this but i am unsure as to wat temp.

I've expanded some pretty cheap 16ga. aluminum up to a 1/4". It cracked any larger than that.

Heat it up nicely with a propane or map gas torch, and you should have no problem expanding the tubing. I've stretched 2.25" tubing to over 3" diameter when making velocity stacks.
