h22 timing ? please help this is the only thing i need to get up and running.
can some one direct me to a link on a walkthrough to do the timing on h22 or explain everything to me i did the auto tensioner fix today and i need to put my engine back together but want some directions first please help thank you.
let me explain what i did when i started the manual tensioner fix so you can answer some questions for me. i first took off the valve cover then the bolts for the uper timing belt cover then to get the bottom timing bolt cover off i had to take off the crank pully bolt so i tryed and tryed and tryed to get it to brake loose but i couldnt cuz the crank just kept spinning well i put a screw driver in the camshaft pully to hold everything in place while i tryed to break loose the bolt and when i did that the belt skipped some teeth so i figured the timing was now fucked so i just cut the timing belt so that i diddnt screw it up anymore i then pulled the starter to have access to the flywheel and put a screwdriver in there to hold the crank and finally got the bolt to come off the crank i pulled the pully off and turned the camshaft clockwise so that the up was up and the notches lined up with eachother then i turned the crank pully to the up position but from what iv read you have to line it up on the flywheel is that correct? and how? so i call one of my friends who was initanlly going to do the timing on it when i got the tensioner done and he said that i probably fucked it up cuz i cut the belt and that some of my valves were going to be open and that when i start my car the valves are going to hit the pistons and that i needed to set the timing while the belt was still on but it was set and skipped some teeth when i was trying to remove the bolt like stated earlier so my question is cant i just line up all the marks to tdc and put the belt on and be ok or is he rite cuz he says that hes gonna have to take the cams off and **** because all the pulleys (crank and camshaft) have to be turned at the same time and since they werent they are going to hit eachother even if i set it all to tdc. i dont think it is that complicated do you? you should be able to reset the timing even thought i cut the belt and the timing skipped correct?

look on the front of the block near where your engine code is stamped and youll see a black rubber plug. pull it out and look in, youll see your flywheel and 2 pointers sticking out from the right....line up the pointers with the mark for tdc, which looks like a big plus sign. there is also an arrow on the block that lines up with the keyway on the crank pulley (that should get you close)
to get the head at tdc, just rotate the cams until the up arrow on the cam gears is up...there are also small notches on the very rim of the gears that are 90 degrees from the up arrows. line all of them up and your good.

i dont think youll have to pull off the cams but i dont know...try resetting the cam gears and crank to tdc at the same time, but if the pistons hit the valves and the pulleys wont turn, dont try to force it or you could bend the valves...if that happens then i guess take out the cams
how would i reset the cams and crank? and how would i set both at the same time? today i went and took another look at it tell me if you think that this is ok all of the timing marks are lined up perfectly i took off the exhaust manifold to see if i could see the valves and there closed at least the exhaust ones neways i pulled the spark plug out of #1 and put a screwdriver in there and it hit the piston right away so its tdc so you think that i am ok?
