weird clutch noise w/ type r pic
Hi I have a 96 gsr an it has 98,000 on it and I drive it pretty hard but I am noticing that when I push the clutch in it makes a weird noise kinda of like squeking. It not too loud of a noise. The car is driven on a regular basis. If you push the clutch in real fast it doesnt really make the noise.
it also makes the noise in everygear and neutral. It seems like it only makes the noise at the friction point of the clutch like when I have it almost all the way in?
any ideas what is wrong??
and to make this thread type r related a pic of my r

if its just a slight squeak and its not loud.... I think its fine dude. Cause alot of clutch pedals make noises when you push them in and out slow like a door creaking or something....
Does that sound like what its doing?

I so do get a wierd? whisle type kind of noise at times when i shift in to 2nd to 3rd or when ever in higher gear. PPL tell me its normal, i sort of take their word"honda techs". SInce i dont have money to do any kind of work on it. i keep thinking when my transmission staarts to get hot/ from engine it makes that noise, i say that cause when i just take the car out of driveway it doesnt make that noise and i feel/phscological thnk its feels better. when i shift into higher gear sometimes i dont have to press down the clutch till i put it in gear then ill press down the clutch, and sometimes it makes noise thats kind of hard to hear
. TO be honest guys i am starting to get really used to my gears and shifting. I try not to hold the clutch down when its not needed or less often as i can. this is a s80 tranny w/jdm 99 itr motor. WHen i got it swaped It already had like a stage 4+ clutch. I mean its reallly exotic. i had ppl from honda thought iwas crazy, I mean when i let the clutch off it would just GO, before i wasnt used to it, i used to hold the cluth ALOT. the dude who did the swap dont knwo what clutch but ppl that drove it speculated it had like double disc in. But till then i wont know till i replace the clutch bearings and all that.
SOrry i am not helping or contributing to fix your problem. B/c i have the same i thought i would like to share.

My car does the same thing. The squeak comes from the pedal. It's really a non-issue.

well the way I see it... if the car is running fine I would just drive it man. If it has alot of miles on it anyway then sooner or later the clutch will start slipping and go eventually and your looking at least $250-$300 in labor just to remove the tranny.
I say just drive it man. haha

pull the boot back for the clutch slave cyl and spray some wd40 on clutch fork where the slave cyl ball sits on. if the sqeaks go away theres your problem. take those 2 bolts that holds it down put some wheel bearing grease there and your staight. no more noise. my car used to do that.
my 2001 itr does the same thing.. it's been getting worst though. usually happens when i drive the car hard fo a few miles. then when i let the car roll by just bearly releasing the clutch it makes a squealing noise. i have had the master cylinder replaced, the bearings but just can't find where that noise is coming from. the car has only 37k miles on it. sad......
