Default Oil catch cans

I always wondered what an oil catch can was. After searching here and on other boards as well as googling the term, I have a basic understanding of how they work. My question is this... If the whole point of the device is to catch draw oil out of the oil vapour and keep it from sludging up the engine and not increase HP or tourque or whatever, wouldn't this be a good thing for all engines from stock D15B2s to Turbo'd whatevers? I noticed a lot of the threads had debates on the good and bad of oil catch cans and the engines they get put on. I dunno...maybe I'm just being silly...

Default Re: Oil catch cans (progress)

its good for all engines, stock and modified. actually there is a "catch can" designed stock on the back of the engine, before the PCV valve. it just does a poor job of filtering the oil out of the vapor, especially when the blow by becomes excessive.

the way its designed stock, it burns the "bad" gases back into the engine. thats supposed to be eco friendly.

also consider a catch can another source of maintenence, something youd have to empty periodically. i dont think car manufacturers consider that something consumers are able to handle...
