Synthetic oil causing B16A2 to burn oil?
On an older engine synthetic can cause your engine to burn oil. Synthetic will eat through deposits and sometimes older gaskets and becuase it is lighter than dyno oil can seep past rings. If you have never used synthetic before, go back to mineral oil.
what brand & weight of oil were u using
MY Si burned a quart of castrol fully synthetic by 3000 miles so i switched back to mobil one stays full till 5000 miles 5w30 and i only had 40,000 miles on the motor

I had a JDM 2nd gen b16a, and at first i used regular non-synthetic oil and everything was fine. then I started to use royal purple and like 2 months later I started burning oil and it smelled like **** when i got on it (about a quart every 1000 miles)!!! So i talked to a local peformance shop about getting cams installed and my valve seals replaced. because i did a compression test and that was fine. Well i waited to long and I spun the 1st and 2nd rod bearing!!! My fault obvious for not checking the oil. When I took my head off after I spun the bearings there was oil soaked around my intake valve in the first cylinder But I'll never use synthetic again unless its a new motor!!!!!
Its not bad to go back to regular, but you can't fix the damage (if any) done by the synthetic by just going back to the regular!!! So if you have a leak from using the synthetic oil then the leak will still be there no matter what oil you use!!!
i have 163k+ on my car and i've been using mobile 1 synthetic 5w30 ever since i got the car(at 124k). i should probably measure how much oil i drain but my car doesn't seem to be hurting any.
