JUST BUILT TURBO MOTOR N NOW LEAKING OIL AND SHOOTING SMOKE
i just built a gsr motor n put it in. the motor runs fine except for 2 things.
1st thing is that its leakin oil from somewhere n it seems to b coming down the flywheel cover. i havent put it on my lift yet at my job so that could b something small. but its def coming from the back of the motor? any suggestions.
2nd thing is smoke is coming thru the little air breather on the valve cover. realy pressurized too. if i hold my finger over it for 5 sec. the pressure builds up n wen i let go it shoots out like a gun n wistles. and then white smoke comes out my exhaust n then goes away...wat is that????
please help if anyone can.

all i can say about your oil leak is check the threads where the sending unit screws in.. ive had that problem before..

I've got smoke coming out of my valve cover to. I also have oil leaking through the turbo and into the charge pipes. It is also shooting a lot of oil out of the blow-off valve. I'm trying to get rid of the black box and add ventilation for the crankcase in hopes that it's not the motor.

its most likley the rear main seal. chances are you didnt put the seal in correctly. probably not square or the lip got caught when you were installing it. possibly not enough lube on the crank
i had to re-do my rear main 3 times before i got it right. i guess i just suck at putting seals in.

one of my friends had same problem, smoke out of breather, ended up being cracked piston...as one of the RC injectors wasnt flowing right
but yeah i hope it isnt the case for you...wish you the best of luck
rear crank seal...is a painnnnnnn....
I never knew there was a correct way to fitting them...always used to get them flush and leave it...but helms says otherwise..like to take of the retainer with oil seal still in...to measure gap from seal to retainer with feeler gauge...and refit new seal with same gap and flush..
