First let me say thanks to all the guys at h-t for the great advice on building my car, but Im having a little problem right now. Lately my car (99 gsr in a eg) has been surging off and on which I heard is common in gsr's. Last night I (hate to say it) missed 4th and over reved. So now when my car is at an idle it sounds and looks like its starving for air, motor shakes bad. I go around to the back of the car and it smells extremely rich. Also the valves are ticking kinda bad....typical honda and when I give it gas or drive the car it is fine. Some ideas have been thrown up such as IAC,IAT,intake valves,TB, so if yall can give me some ideas on what you think it could be.

 

I've been having this similar problem... when something drags on the motor (PS, A/C, subwoofers, even window motors) I have not been able to pinpoint the problem area... I messed with my timing, cleaned the IM, checked all vacuum lines... I'm also interested in a solution...

 

Leakdown or compression test it. There's a strong possibility of bent exhaust valves.

 

leakdown and compression.....if they come out looking good, then move on from there, but i agree w/ IN VTEC....check that first before you try anything else!
