Default EG Depo Foglight help.

After numerous failed attempts to get my foglights working on my EG. I'm now considering tapping the foglights into my parking lights. Now, I already have my city lights tapped into my parking lights.

*When you do the first click on your turn signal arm, the parking lights, citylights and foglights would all come on*

Could this damage anything? Overload anything?

if u use all the relays with the fog lights tapping it like that shouldnt be a problem. only if u try hooking the lights up directly then you'll probably burn the wires.

What exactly do you mean? I was just thinking.. Tapping the positive wire into my existing parking light wire for power, and grounding the ground wire. Would I just put the relay in between that? My relay has 4 different prongs.

Please described your failed attempts. Just trying to figure out what you might've done wrong.

I followed JDMlifestyles' tutorial to a T. Using the same grounding points, everything he did. I goto turn on the foglights, I hear a pop (similar to a fuse getting blown noise). The foglights don't light up, but the switch does.

I through a test light to the foglight connectors on the harness, both the grounding wire and the positive wire light up the test light. I tired 2 switches and 2 relays and everything was the same. Some how the wires are crossed, I tried 'uncrossing' them and it didn't do anything.

When I 'uncrossed' the wires and put them to what I think is the correct wires, I hear my car work harder (like the idle will rise). When the car is turned off, it drains my battery VERY fast when the wires were the way when I bought it.

I'm horrible at wiring, that's what's killing me on this. Anyone else?

Hmmm...

I'm guessing you checked the fuse after hearing the pop?

I remember I had an issue with an Esuse set. For some reason it kept blowing fuses. Turns out it had something to do with the foglight brackets touching the metal frame. I alleviated this by putting electrical tape on the bracket. Few years later I smelled some kind of burning smell, and upon inspecting what could've caused the smell, turns out the fuse didn't blow properly. This caused the wiring harness to overheat and melt the insulation. I'm currently running a Depo set though and have had no problems, even with the brackets touching the frame.

Do the foglights light up when they're not mounted on the car?

Sorry bro but I'm at a loss for now. I will have to search for JDMlifestyle's write up and look it over, maybe it'll provide me with some insight.

*EDIT*
I read JDMlyfestyle's write-up, he did his wiring exactly like how I did mine.

That's another route to go, which will in fact work well, however I do not know how to go about incorporating the OEM style foglight switch into an aftermarket universal wiring harness.

just leave the switch in, but the AUX will come with a switch that u can use, or u can wire it to the OEM switch somehow, i just use the switch that came with the kit, but left the OEM one in

Yes, I did check the fuse and it didn't blow. Also, when I throw the test light on my relay makes a fast clicking noise. What is an AUX wiring kit? And no, the foglight metal frame isn't touching the chassi of the car when I'm testing it. The foglights do not come on at all. These are DEPO foglights purchased brand new from JDMsh!t.com.

I am seriously stumped by your predicament, cuz it sounds like you did everything right.

When egcivicb16 referred to an "AUX wiring kit" he meant a universal auxilary or foglight wiring harness. It's just like the wiring harnesses that come with Pilot, Piaa, Blazer, and other aftermarket foglights. These harnesses can be used to power up your Depo set, however you will need to do some splicing in order for the Depo lights to work with the aftermarket harness.

I'm very confident that I did everything right as well. I've had several people look over the write up I followed (JDMlifestyles) and look at the way I wired it and it's all exactly the same. Somehow, the way the wiring is crossed (that's what I'm think). I'm planning on calling JDMSh!t.com tomorrow and requesting a new wiring kit be sent out.

It's possible your harness wasn't assembled properly. It happened to me on my Depo set, resulting in a blown foglight switch. I had to disassemble the green plug and switch the wires around as well as having to get a new switch.

Good luck, I hope jdmsh!t.com will send you a new set (one that works).
