(searched) door skin installation
As the title states, I searched but only a few came up and none of them answered my questions; so here we go.
Any one ever install a door skin?
I have done everything possible to a civic, from doors, fenders, rear disk conversions, control arms, motors, ect. Is a door skin out of my league?
What tools did you need?
How many hours did it take?
Is it something you can do on your own?
Have you ever had a door skin installed?
How much did it cost?
How did it look after?
Is it a simple job for most body shops?
Do you think you should have done it your self.
Please someone answer these questions. I havnt been able to find any write ups on this. I really think its possible to do it my self but it would help a great deal if someone could tell me what issues to watch out for and if there are some tools that would greatly help the process. Someone who works as a body man would be awesome to hear from.

Yes I have done it several times now. It takes some practice but it really isn't all that hard. The only tools that are necesary is a hammer and dolly, grinder and a torch if you have access to one. With the technology now days you can actually glue the skin on if you dont have access to a welder. 3M makes it and its just as strong as a weld. If you were take it to a body shop its a job for any "b-tech". Door skins are put on in shops all the time. The first time I did it it took me forever but now I can strip the door and have the new one on and align the door in about 1hr and a half which isnt to bad. To be honest your best bet is just to take it to a body shop. Im not sure how much they would charge either.
I am actually. I am just worried. Plus I dont have a garage to do it in so everything would be done outside. I assume you paint the door skin before you put it on?

No, you paint it after its on.
I think skins are easy but I got a air hammer with a spot weld buster/sealer buster and a skinner air tool for instalation.
I would suggest it if your patient and have some decent auto skills.

mine was easy. took maybe 30 minutes, needed needle nosed pliers, 12mm, soem various other ones, and i used a rim to keep it level. needs to be aligned, but it was super easy, you can do it.

Yes, and you have to remove everything from the door as well. Be careuful because the top of the door is pretty tricky.
