Default How do you remove the black finish on a B18C valve cover to make it bare metal?

Is there some chemical or solvent that works really well and will make the job of polishing my valve cover easier? Any tips would really be appreciated. Thanks.

aircraft cleaner is an excellent product. Find it at an autoparts store. 5-10 minutes later its bare metal.

Is this aircraft remover going to eat through latex gloves?

Also, im going to try to find this stuff but if i can't, would auto paint stripper work just as well?

The only auto parts stores around here are Autozone, Pep Boys, R&S Strauss and one small NAPA store. Anyone know if any of these would have it?

Thanks guys!

Aircraft stripper from Home Depot, runs like $6. Don't worry, won't eat through Latex gloves. Just put it on with a paint brush, let it sit for like 5 minutes and use an old toothbush(or your ex gf's, he he) and go over the hard to reach spots. Then hose it off, will be good to go.
