Tirerack has 20 listings for summer and all season tires in 205/45/16. Only 2 of those are approved for 8" rims. All the 215/45s they carry have 8" within the rim widths, but there are much fewer, only 6. For that size wheel it seems you would be best off with a 215 or 225, but those sizes do limit your options somewhat.

Im sure you can find some input on what tires will work well for you for what youre doing

*edit* heh, i completely didnt check what car these were going on, ignore me and listen to nsxtasy

16x8 is too wide for a '92-95 Civic, and 205/45-16 is too big, too.

Get 16x7 rims and mount 205/40-16 tires on them.

You're doing it all backwards. FIRST you need to choose the rim diameter, THEN you need to choose the proper size tires for the car (NOT for the rim), and THEN you need to choose the rim width that is best for that size tire.

The best 16" tire size for a '96 Civic Hatchback is 205/40-16. Many of the tires in that size (such as the excellent Kumho Ecsta SPT) are approved for mounting on rims from 16x7 to 16x8. Your best bet is to look up the specs of the exact tire you're planning to use; the specs show the range of approved rim widths for each size.
