Tranny question: checking condition before install
I've got a 99 Si hydro tranny that I'm about to install. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to check the condition of the tranny while its out of the car. I'm hoping to find any problems before I spend the time installing this thing.
Fill it up with tranny fluid, check for cracks/leaks on the case.
really you can't check the transmission without tracking the casing off and inspecting the gears/synchro's
your best bet is to just put in some new tranny fluid and hope you got a good tranny from a reputable person

Cracking the case is no problem, the tranny is on the ground. How can I tell if the syncros and good and nothing is bent/worn out?
Thanks, guys
Thanks, guys
when you crack it look at all the gears for chips or score marks on them also inspect the brass colred rings{dogteeth} make sure there still in good condition also check the side rings that go into dogteeth should be diamond shaped
