AUTO TO MANUAL CONV. MANUAL GSR INTO EG HATCH
I have a 92 hatch with a gsr in it already but the shell I have is all busted up and I need a new one. I am seriously contemplating buying an automatic I have found for $500 that is in really good shape. I have done a search on here and found alot of stuff on swaps for eg's and ek's but for d series swaps. I haven't found one for a gsr swap into an eg.
Now since I already have the pedals, clutch, flywheel, tranny, ecu, pretty much everything that comes with an engine swap, what else will I need? Do I need a mount? Has anyone ever done one and is happy with it? Is it reliable? I just don't want to get the car and have to sell it again becuase it is unreliable and doesn't work. Please help me out...

seems like you have everything you need except the auto - manual tranny mount.
get that and you'll be set. oh, and yes they are reliable.

Well that's good, where can I get one? I haven't really ever looked for one so I don't know where to go...which website?

I'm not sure EXACTLY what your asking but I'll shed some light on the subject..
B-Series swaps into EG's are EASY! Just use all factory mounts from a 94-01 integ. use integ axles, shifter assy, etc.. Use OBD1 harness (94-95 delsol for B-16) (94-95 LS for B18A-B) (94-95 GSR for B18C)
Here's the details about the swap.. I'll have to tear my car apart to get you the correct wiring but I'll do it if it helps..
AT and MT shells have a SLIGHT difference..
The MT trans mount that's welded to the frame sits level.. and has a SMALL shifter hole in the floor..
The AT trans mount that's welded to the frame is elevated to make clearance for the larger A/T trans.. The AT floor has a large hole for the shifter and a slotted hole for the shift cable..
If using a MT in a AT car.. You have to order a place racing AT/MT conversion mount (Last I heard Hasport didn't have one yet) for the trans OR Cut the spot welds of the AT frame bracket and weld in a MT frame bracket you also have to patch the extra holes in the floor for the shifter unless you like road noise and heat/water comming up through the shifter hole.. Then obviously you have to install pedals and wire the starter safty switch, and cut the 2 AT solinoid wires to the ECU and re-route the wires to the old shifter wiring if you care to have reverse lights..
If using a AT in a MT car.. You have to cut the MT frame bracket off and weld in a AT frame bracket since the existing MT frame bracket hits the trans.. then you have to cut holes in the floor for the AT shifter.. (The holes are already there and covered by a MT filler plate from the factory..) you also have to cut the reverse light wire and patch it into the new AT shifter and wire the other solinoid from the trans to the ECU..
I can get you wiring details if you need them.. I hope this answered some questions..

it did help a little bit about the mounts, but I will be swapping a complete gsr swap from one eg hatch to another eg hatch that is set up for automatic transmission, would I have to cut any wires for the ecu if I am swapping in one that is already set up for manual? I still also need to find out where I can get an upper mount for the transmission

there is a blue-ish wire and a yellow wire going to the ECU from the old AT oil solonoids that will be the reverse light wiring when you use the new MT engine harness. I'd reccomend cutting them before you even plug the ECU in..
I believe it's B3 and B4 according to this pinout chart.. it's your responsiability to double check those are the wires that lead to the 2 solonoids on the trans..

When you remove the AT shifter, you will have to patch wires from the old AT shifter plug to the 2 wires that you just cut off the ECU harness and you'll need to jump the 2 large guage wires in the main plug as well.. those should be in the middle of the main plug and should be the 2 biggest wires out of all of them..
I'll unwrap my harness and see if I can get specifics as well.. I'm currently driving a 95 DX auto that has a built B18C1/S4C swap..

Like it was said, place racing makes the mount you need and i believe hasport does now too. Do you have the manual pedal assembly? Because that usually does not come with a swap.

yeah I am driving a civic hatch with the gsr setup already, all of that would come out of the one I am driving now.

Place Racing Tranny swap mount ($??.??) Notice the elevated chassis bracket? The MT bracket sits level..

Hasport Tranny swap mount.. ($175 from hasport)

I couldn't bring myself to spend $175 on a mount, so I fabricated my own mount using my old trans mount.. It works REALLY well.. the only problem with the place racing and hasport mounts is that they are polyurethane and tend to transmit a bit of vibration.. I used the place racing mount and heard every gear in my tranny..

hmm I would think you could transfer the entire wiring harness from the old eg to the auto one and that would take care of the ecu related problems. Im not sure about the guages tho. Also you have to figure out the nuetral safety switch.

Do you have any idea how much work that would be? It's significantly easier to cut and splice a few wires from the Auto harness

if it was a EK, it'd be a completely different story.. I don't think he wants to completely gut his firewall/dash to swap out a harness....
