I've often wondered this myself, i think you can if you make sure you leave the car out of gear and just use the parking break...

I've heard Remote starter manufacturers offer versions for manual transmissioned vehicles, and I've often asked; why? The Product Liability issues must be enormous.

I'll tell you this, I want to be there the day some ^&%$* forgets to leave his car in neutral and fires off his Remote Starter. The effects of such an event would be priceless, as would the look on his face

Run outside, start the car, run back inside. Actually, you should not leave the car idling for a long time (especially with the heater on full blast). With the car idling, and the heater on, the engine takes longer to warm up. Let the engine idle for only a minute or two, then drive normally.

I was actually talking to this shop owner I know and he said the rep that sells the remote start kits to him actually dropped his cell phone in front of his car, accidentally hit the button, and the car ran his leg into the garage...that's messed up!

I can just picture it. We've got more than enough problems with white-haired geriatrics mistaking the accelerator pedal for the brake pedal (ask any convenience store owner, about his new glass panels ), but can you imagine the pandemonium from these people with manual trans remote starters.
I'm thinking of starting a Garage Door business. I could really clean up!!

I have a remote start on my manual car. I bought the car with it, but have now disabled it just because it is not only pointless in my view, but dangerous.

If you do start it on accident with the car in gear, it does not go very far because it stalls and the parking brake helps too.

Or to see a freshly painted Talon TSI ram itself right into a garage.

ouch, that would suck...

that's why I will never put a remote starter on a manual transmission... I never want to see my car go nuts and drive into a wall.

You're quite correct. Just how lazy do they have to get before we label them retarded* ? All for the want of a pre-heated *** bucket.

* I'm quite sure this crack will elicit comments from mental health community advocates.....
