Default installing headers -- should I use gasket sealer?

just wondering if I should use sealer on the o-ring gasket where the 4-2-1 headers connect to the stock pipe?

no, that is a crush gasket and should seal without sealant. you may want to get a new crush gasket while it's apart to avoid leaks down the line.

How many headers do you have on your car? I heard adding more adds HP. I mean, if one header adds 5 hp, 2 must add 10 hp!!

Absolutely not. It would be of no value and anything you applied would burn off.

If there was one thing I would suggest:
Use Antisieze compound on the fasteners. That way, if you should have to remove/repair anything down the road; you wouldn't be dealing with rusted/siezed and busted fasteners.

Also use lock washers on everything

I blame it on paint chips, lead and being dropped repeatedly when I was younger

well, since a header technically is "A pipe that serves as a central connection for two or more smaller pipes" than I guess there are three in this set-up... 15 HP! Damn!!!
sorry 'bout my tardedness -- too much ebay "header headers hedder"<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by mac_24_seven &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

No sealer on any of the three joints which comprize the Header Assembly.
None at the Head/Header joint
None at the Header/Downpipe joint
None at the Downpipe/Converter joint

The gaskets should be a steel/asbestos sandwich and the lower seals are more a brass (copper) o'ring
