hi - yes, it really is an '87 Accord, great condition. I drive it from VA to NY often and it still drives like a dream. except, since last night, when the acceleration (gas) pedal seemed to 'slide out of place'? it's not sticky, but the opposite --- like there is absolutely zero pressure when i depress the pedal (all i feel is the spring on the pedal mechanism itself). i was in reverse when it happened (parking, thank god) and it felt as if some sort of vacuum connection was broken. i pushed it down, all good, then as i released it i heard/felt a 'swoosh' sound and suddenly there was no resistance anymore.

can you tell me what part of the accelaration mechanism might be failing here? i can't drive it to a mechanic, so i'm guessing i might have to get in there and try to fix it myself!

is it Carbed or Fuel injected?

 

Did the cable fall off the rotor?
