Default New Record: 14.678 in my BB6

2001 Prelude
5 Speed
CAI/S2 Manifold/Hondata IM Gasket/T1R header/Test Pipe/Thermal Exhaust/p28 with hondata tuned.
TEIN SS set at 12/12, Falken Ziex 512's 205/50/16 w/25 psi in the front, 35 in the rear, Stock Wheels.

R/T: .843
60': 2.226 (5,500 RPM Launch w/good burnout)
330: 6.236
1/8: 9.518
MPH: 74.70
1000: 12.323
1/4: 14.678
MPH: 96.06
I think I could definatly improve my ET by dropping my 60ft down to about 2.2 flat.
I got a great launch and only a second of hop, cause i got on the gas to quick, but I feathered that out. I couldn't be happier all in all. However...how can I be faster?

Ditch the Ziex tires and find a better tire. Other than that, good times.

That is actually pretty peppy for a Prelude with those modifications.. and it's probably in (no BS) 101% street trim.

I'd be proud too if I got a 3000lbs Honda to go 14.6
for what it is!

Sorry dont want to burst your bubble buddy but thats not too well for all your mods. You should touch 13s. I ran faster with a stock header and a test pipe with a apex n1. I also netted a 2.2 60 ft. 14.5@95. What did your car dyno at? And do u have weight reduction?

Also i see your in MD. Was this at MIR? Thats where i ran my time in my 2001 prelude.

Also if u want to improve your times look into some full blown slicks. I know welds makes some rims that would work, and some 22inchers would be right up your alley.

WTF are you talking about? you ran a tenth faster with the same car, and a sligtly better 60ft. so he should go from a 14.6 to a 13 because he has a header and you dont?

youre both running decent times for a pretty stock heavy prelude and street tires, so you'll get a for that.

but just because you ran a tenth faster than the other guy, you shouldnt try to "burst his bubble." i'd like to see the video of you guys racing eachother.... should be a CLEAN matchup.

No bullshit, if you havent followed preludes for a long time and their times in comparison to their mods dont talk.

Im just being honest here. He should have ran a faster time, and he may have a bad motor. Those mods on a good tune are 13 territory, and should equal around 2xxwhp and 16xtq. tuned correctly given that its a strong motor. Those figures alone in a stock prelude gutted should get you 13s on stock.

no bullshit...... dude, he has a header, you think a header will knock .7 of his 1/4 mile time? you got another thing coming.

you guys basically have the same mods. dont get all pissed at me homie... relax.

I think so. Or at least got him to 14 flat(a guy i frmo another web board PO.com ran 14.2 with just Mugen Header, exhaust, and AEM Intake). I matched his quarter, even beat it. I had a stock ECU, with a VAFC(leaned it out -5percent after my lowered vtec point, i know i never put it on a dyno i was dumb)and on a stock header, with a apex n1. Keep in mind a stock prelude motor when they are strong and broken in right break about 168whp at most and 14xtq figures. ALl i had was an exhaust test pipe and VAFC and gutted back seats and trunk. WIth that all that said, i probably had 175at most to the wheels.

No weight reduction...I ran that time w/my spare tire and trunk lining in! I dynoed at 188/140, but heat soak got me so by the end of the session i was at 185. That's probablyh where I was when I made my run. Shoulda...woulda...coulda. We're always learning man, i don't hold those words over my head, that's the biggest way to get irritated at yourself. You learn and you improve...simple as that. Thanks guys for the defense btw...much appreicated
BTW, my run was at capitol raceway. I'm looking to bring my 60' down to 2.200 or possible high 2.1

listen.... .7 is A LOT!!!

like 10 car lengths. i doubt a header could do that.

youre also not thinking about the fact that this guy doesnt drive like you do, weather could have been different, his tires were different, 60ft. wasnt the same.

PS we ALL know a guy who knows a guy that ran 4s

Those are good 60s none the less. Yea with weight reduction you can hit im sure 14.4 or lower. Just look into some slicks and maybe a SMSP header. The guy who i sold my old one to broke 200whp on a dyno jet with just the header and eveything else stock and tuning. Food for thought.

Trust me, i know what preludes could do, ive studied the damn car and its facts more than i did in high school.

Yea, I've got a slight engine build comming up. I'm installing a Euro-R mani, and type S cams, along with a spare head I got off ebay. Good times fellows...good times.

Yea that Mani is money. If i were you though, i'd consider maybe going with bigger cams, like the skunk2 stage 2s or JUN 3s.

Yea i talked to my local speed shop, Import Sports, about it. They said on stock compression the type s cams are best. They have an H22 hatch, and have tried just about every cam imaginable for it. Actually they made around 250hp on the type s cam. I think they were at 14:1 compression when they did, but that just goes to show how versatile that camshaft is. It'll be good for my compression and when I go higher it will be even better.

LOL I was going to bring that guy up, as the only person i know to push as much power off of a Type S cams. Well good luck! Do u plan to ever have your bottom end done up? And work on weight reduction. U should also hit up MIR Sometime, the prep is really good.

Congrats on your 14.5 man, that's my next goal. What did you launch at?
I plan on doing weight reduction, when I can get consistent launches down and get consistent in the 1/4 mile. No sense in taking out the seats b/f that. Bottom end build...in time.
-Greg P
P.S. What do you mean by MIR's prep is good?

I shift at around 8k on the stock tach. I can cross the line in 3rd gear because I got my rev limiter raised to 8k with hondata.
With a better 60' and a quicker 1-2 shift and I should be at 14.5. to everyone who is dedicated to the sport!

Stock the stock tach, 8k redline in reality is the 7600 so i'd imagine the real life 8k on the motor is close to 8.5k on the stock tach.

Your Time:

R/T: .843
60': 2.226 (5,500 RPM Launch w/good burnout)
330: 6.236
1/8: 9.518
MPH: 74.70
1000: 12.323
1/4: 14.678
MPH: 96.06

This is my time in comparison to your:
R/T...1.277
60'... 2.240
330... 6.182
1/8... 9.411
mph... 75.76
1000... 12.207
1/4... 14.55
mph... 95.45

AEM CAI
Test pipe
Apexi n1
AEM pulley's

Those were my mods with a Apex VAFC.

Also hows your shifting? U shift fast? Hows the clutch holding up?

Also i dont own a Prelude anymore. Its been about 3 years. I now own a k20 EG hatch running 12.70@111 on AVS ES 100s.

yea i shift fairly fast... I just made it into 3rd gear. When i let my clutch go, I heard a click and the tranny pulled the shifter in the rest of the way. I'd say that's pretty fast :-) But there is always room to improve. Clutch is holding up pretty good.

When i would cross, i noticed your better off just shifting fast as hell to 4th as your already at the top of of 3rd. Worked for me.
