Default Sunroof having trouble going "up" but not back?!

Ok when I open my sunroof it has to lift up and back out of the hole. But when I try to open it up from a closed postion it has a hard time lifting out of the hole but once its past this position it'll go back and forth all day without a problem. Is there something that needs to be greased or tightened? Spring is coming and I wanna use it

my sunroof did this once or twice randomly, but usually a good clean/grease and breaking the grease in worked... I would try that...

mine has the same problem... it takes forever to open and close. hmm. how do you clean/grease that shiz? i thought maybe it was a bad motor, but now it seems like it just needs a cleaning and greasing.

mine is a little sluggish on the innitial push and final closing too. I just thought that was normal for a 13 year old moonroof motor But if someone wants to let us know where/what they cleaned and greased to make their's work better, that would be awesome

sorry if i'm hijacking... but mine opens and closes fine, but it's loud when I close it. The passenger always gets freaked out when it shuts... lol. I've started warning people when I'm about to close it. Do you guys think cleaning/greasing would help this? What kind of grease is it and how do you apply it?

Here's how I do mine. When roof is fully open I mask off the opening so no aerosol sprays can damage the interior. I just use a paper stuck on the inside roof lining using masking tapes, then get some WD40 & spray all the sliders and runners that I can see, then rub it off with clean rags and do it until no more grime comes off the mechanism. When it's as clean as possible, I use some light spray on grease with one of those tubes so you can get right in and get it on all the clean sliders. Once this is done use some silicone spray on a cloth and wipe all around the sunroof rubbers, also on the inside metal frame that the rubber sits into. Once done remove the paper and tape and open and close a few times, you will find it smooth and also that clap sound isn't as loud because the rubber slides into position rather than gripping the metal and jumping into place. Hope this helps, it's what I've always done every year and have never had a problem, I figure the less stress & resistance the motor has to endure will make it operate smoother, faster and last longer.
