50 series VS. 55 series
Picking up a set of tires for my ls mesh. Im having a hard time find a 50 series for a decent price and I came across a great deal on some 55's. The tire size i'll be picking up is 195 55 r15.
Just wanted to know if there is a BIG difference between the 55 and 50 in size(thickness of side wall) and performance. thanks in advance for the useful inputs..

Theres not much of a difference at all.....the 195/55 is the stock tire size that comes standard on most mesh's, SI's and blades...I personally like the look of a 50 series better though, I can pick out a car with a 50 series on instantly over a 55....gives it a nicer lower profile look....
As for the sidewalls both size tires have thickness potential, its all in specifically which tire your talking about.
But if you found a good deal on the 55's go for it

The best tire size depends on the car, not on the wheel. You need the proper tire size for your car in order to preserve the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer, among other reasons.
195/55-15 is the best 15" tire size for most Integras and '96-00 Civics. 195/50-15 is the best 15" tire size for pre-'96 Civics. What kind of car do you have (year, model and version)?
And I don't know why you say that you can't find tires in 195/50-15 for a decent price. Most of the "bang for the buck" tires come in that size, they're usually cheaper than 195/55-15, and onlinetires.com even has the Toyo T1-R in that size on special. Here are some of the better summer tires available in 195/50-15:
Kumho Ecsta SPT $54
Yokohama ES100 $59
Toyo T1-R $60
And one of the very best street tires of all, the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, comes in 195/50-15 ($88), the only 15" size it comes in.

Why did you create a new topic to ask this question, when you already asked the same question in this previous topic, where it was answered?
