Huh? Are you trying to say that it doesn't directly apply to ITR's?

A free 45 point inspection will only equal: 1 An expensive estimate on work that doesnt really need to take place. 2 Some random dude driving taking your car out for a "test" drive to make sure things are dandy. And 3 More people knowing you have the car and the VIN sitting where they have all the time in the world to get it and make a copy, and see you address to boot.

1. It would be for ***** and giggles.
2. He will not take the car for a drive, I will not allow that.
3. Bah, I'm not worried about that one here.

Best place for that inspection is your own garage. At least there won't be a bunch of honkeys asking you if you street race. And you wont have those idiots copying keys or stealing your change or whatever it is they do.

No chance in hell. I'll bust out the floorjack and stands and crawl around on the floor myself for a few hours.
But most of the car has been replaced anyway so I know I'm good

You guys are talking about two different things:
1. The "Acura Appreciation Event" includes a free 45-point inspection of ALL Acura vehicles the week of April 3-7, as reported on slickdeals
2. The extended warranty on the emissions systems of certain 1995-97 Honda/Acura models, as reported on slickdeals as well as all over h-t.com a couple of months ago.

what if the vehicle has been modified? i didn't see anything in the file that says modified vehicles are prohibited from this "warranty extection".

This is only a good idea if you know your dealership well, and better yet, you know someone at the service deparment (manager, adviser, mechanic). This way, you can be sure:
1. The inspection will be legit
2. You won't see a 30 mile difference between mile-in/mile-out
3. Some punk kid won't make note of your VIN #, and God forbid, who knows what could happen after that.
Yes, sounds paranoid, but with an ITR, you can never be too careful or too paranoid. My bet, 90% of these items in this inspection are simple things that anyone can do on their own.
Think about it, the whole point of this is to get you to the dealership, so they can try to sell you another car. They have no incentive to do a thorough, detailed inspection, all for free.

if you take it to the dealership on regular bases, then sure.. why not? othrewise, i wouldn't. i do all the work myself anyway. its not that difficult and i didn't get any training just common sense and service manual.

If you work on your own car and know what to look for, then sure, do your own inspection.

No, the point of this is to get you to the dealership's service department and get your car looked at, so if they find anything wrong, they can fix it for you. (Remember, dealerships make a lot more money on service than they do on selling new cars.) And yes, it's in their own interest to do so (because you'll pay them for anything to be fixed) - but it's also a good thing to do for people who never get their car really looked at, and maybe only go to a quick lube place for oil changes.

And for the majority of the Acura client base, this would be a worthy item, as very few, if any, would be the type of person who works on their own car.
Most ITR owners I've known are hard-core enthusiasts who do some sort of work on their car, from minor to major stuff.
I don't question the worthiness of this item as a whole, I only question its value, in certain cases, for ITR owners specificially.

That's two different things.
For owners of the ITR, it's just as valuable as with any other car. But for owners (of any model car) who work on their own car, enough that they know what problems to look for and inspect their cars at regular intervals, it is not necessarily useful.
Happy now?
