Hi, New to this forum. So much to learn

I have a 1998 civic ex and the original muffler went, so my bro got me a brand new muffler system from pepboys for free. Well, from my measurements, the exhaust tip is 5 inch circle and the piping from the engine back to the exhaust exit is 3 inches. I really dont want to buy another muffler if possible. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

 

holy crap. Are you sure he bought it for a civic and not a Peterbuilt. Im sure you can find a rain cap for it. That might help a little.

I would just go buy a stockie for it. Itll save you a lot of headache. With the cops and trying to find a silencer for it. If your that deperate try to call the manufacturer. If they don't have one, they might be able to tell you where to get one.

Hahahah that is the first I was ever called that. It was either a free muffler or go and spend over a $100 on a new one. I choose free instead of paying.
But I think in the end. I am gonna have to buy a new one unless, someone has a way around it. Thing is annoying, setting off alarms almost everytime I drive by. lucky cops dont care about noise population in my area yet.

 

you might as well drive around without one. It will make same amount of noise. Maybe not even that raspy

does the tip have a 5" circumference or is it 5" in diameter? I'll check my friend's silence he got with his Megan Racing exhaust. He's probably willing to let it go super cheap.

You can also check Ebay for silencers.

I wouldnt even attempt to find a silencer for it....Just get a new muffler....Quieter one...
