Default rear wheel bearings

So I finally got around to getting the rear wheel bearings changed, just bought the whole hub assembly. Anyway I took the old hub out and in the back the bearings were exposed and on the new one's there's a ring or plate of some sort(I think they're greaseless) my question is now the new hub wont slide all the way back onto the shaft and I think it's because part of the old hub is still on there, how do I get the old part of the hub off?. It's about 10:30pm so I've lost all my light otherwise I would have taken pics. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the help, I was slightly unclear in my first post so let me clear up my problem. I took off the old hub assembly to replace it with the new hub assembly and the new assembly doesnt slide all the way back on the spindle. I cant even begin to thread the bolt. After checking the back of the new assembly and the old assembly I noticed that the old assembly has the wheel bearings exposed but the new assembly does not. I am afraid I might have left part of the old assembly in.

It sounds very possible that you left the bearing cover thing on the spindle. I don't think the bearings should be exposed.

Thanks, I'll post pics tommorrow when I get up and actually have daylight. If I did leave it on, I did try and budge it back but it wasnt moving so I may end up trying to use vice grips and a hammer to get it off the spindle

haha this happened to me on my old prelude. the bearings were so shot the cover was stuck on the hub. You can either use a flat blade screwdriver and pry with it or i used a huge pair of channel locks and wrenched on it and got it off fairly easy. try some wd40 and grease to help you out. doesn't matter if u hurt the old bearing cover just try not to mess up that hub.

Ok, I'll leave the vice grips out of it til I know for certain what I'm dealing with. Or at least post pics so everyone can see. Thanks again for your help.

The Bearing Race is stuck on the Spindle. I just did the front bearing on my Vigor and same thing happened. Air chisel,Heat and WD40 will be your friend. Good Luck

It was this bugger,

Some vice grips and determination and I got it out. Thankfully the other side didnt have this problem. Now I have 2 new rear wheel bearings installed and no longer have that loud noise when I drive. Thanks everyone.
